Un-masked whois infor for the domain, registered just a couple months ago. No sign of a real business providing “on site” services at their purported U.S. address it in Google Street View…
Located in Kashmir. I called, the guy said “we are located at One One Three West Babylon New York” Then a moment later he claimed he was in “Santa Clarita California.” Poor fellow, he does not know where he is.
I just called and had an American on the other end saying everyone’s prank calling him. It’s possible the scammers have taken down the number and this is a spoof.
Edit: I’ve spoken to the owner of the number and explained what’s going on and gave him the website displaying his number. I’m going to see what I can do to get this website reported and taken down.
Their website has an address in Kansas: 2611 SW 17th St, Topeka, KS 66604, United States which is some office suites. It’s probably just a mailing address, They open in 2.5 hours so I’ll call them to see if they can help.
I contacted hostinger, who are hosting the website, via their live chat. I spoke to their AI, asked to get through to a human and then sat there for 15 minutes waiting. They saw my message and then clicked to unsee it so I told them to email me if they had any questions and left it.
Edit: I’ve had a response from them and their abuse team is now investigating it.
Do you think these are the same scammer or are you just spam posting in this thread?
Thanks, that is strange because when I called I reached a very un-professional man with a distinct South Asian accent who could not give e a straight answer about what his business was or where it was located. They must have redirected the number to someone else who you spoke with.
did you call them today or yesterday?
The American said he’s been getting calls since last night (US time, I don’t know what time zone he’s in) so I presume the scammers have either forwarded the call to him or they were spoofing it somehow.
I told him I’ll do what I can to report the site but I can’t guarantee anything so his best bet is to change his number. He’s now won’t answer any calls from any number.
I didn’t really think to record the call.
Yesterday. @birdshostelusa and @LordOfTheRings could you maybe edit out the phone number for now please?
has anyone got any recordings of their conversations with the scammers? The hosting provider for their website is asking me for evidence of them scamming so they can take it down.
