Service canada called me after a ransomware attack demanding bitcoins. Is this police extortion? How were they able to encrypt the computers and demand ransom then target me as service canada demanding bitcoins. This would not be legal if it were illegal hacking. It triggered my bank account to be frozen as a result of suspicious activity eg the workplace was encrypted with ransomware during a cyber attack that stole information illegally eg “cyber criminals”. They stole funds from bank during it including the bitcoin ransom and bank funds.
I believe this is where the Microsoft support virus popup scam comes from. This particular real life scenario.
