I called wrong PayPal customer Service number.
I was having trouble with a credit card not being accepted on ebay.
ebay said it has something to do with Paypal so I called them. They (scammer) said since I have X amount money in my PayPal account that I needed to switch from a personal account to a business account. While talking to them on the phone I then tried to log into my PayPal account which at that point I was unable to and started to worry. They then said I would need to re-Verify my account by purchasing gift cards in the amount of $2000.00 and transfer the money to my account and that it was “refundable” to unlock my account. These people are real pro’s they transfer to a manager, sent me a email with all my info and everything, It seemed so real and legit. My gut feeling was just not comfortable with this whole procedure. I was on the phone for almost 2 hrs arguing about this, they even assigned a case #. I said I was uncomfortable with this and said I needed to discuss it with my wife and call back another day. I could tell the caller was getting frustrated and he (scammer) threatened me that if I did not verify my account during the phone call they where going to refund all the purchaser’s money and lock my account. I almost did it (purchase gift cards) because everything seem legit. So after the caller started to get frustrated with me and said he was going to close the case and that my account was going to be locked and then got off the phone. I then looked up the correct PayPay Customer service # Contact them and they unlocked my account I changed my password and said everything is OK with my account, I also Cancel my CC as well. The whole experience made me nauseated and down right sick to my stomach. All-in-all I’m very skeptical and cautious about these things but this one almost got me. I hope my bad experience with this issue will help somebody else keep from being there next victim.
In all likelihood these are Indian scammers. Seen many such cases.
