Subject of email: Regarding Your Recent Order at PayPal

The email says to call +1 (833) 902-0465

Usually I get phishing emails but this email has a toll-free number.
I tried searching in various formats this phone number to see if there was a thread with it but I could not find a thread.

At 9:21 am Central I called for the first time. A foreign guy whose accent was understandable answered as PayPal and said his name is Eric Rodgers.

He asked for the Order ID number or Invoice ID. I gave him the Invoice ID TYU-8520-SOND in the image file in the email. I hope it will be readable.

The image says there was a $399.99 charge for BitCoin.

He asked my last name. I gave Jackson.

He asked when I last used PayPal and I said about 6 months ago.

I said that I did not make the purchase for BitCoin.
He asked if I have ever purchased BitCoin and I said NO.

He said my PayPal account has been logged in from Texas and Ohio.

The hackers used my social security number to get a PayPal Credit Line Loan of $2,000.00 and that $2,000.00 was charged to my PayPal account.

Blah blah blah …

He had me bring up a browser and go to www.anydesk.com

I told him, “Oh, I gotta speak to my supervisor. There is a problem and I must call you back, Mr. Eric Rodgers.”

He said okay.

I did not want to spook him in case anybody wants to bait using a virtual machine. I do not have a virtual machine. Plus I gotta get going to do some stuff.

EDIT:
Heck, I decided to charge my laptop now since it just dropped below 20% charge. After it charges I’ll go run a couple of errands.

RingCentral line, will be saving this invoice for a special Scambait Sunday episode.

“Thank you for calling PayPal, this is Robert. How can I help you?”

Robert answered from a mobile phone, prompting you to connect with the “PayPal Fraudulent Department” via the AnyDesk app, though I pulled a Mr. Bob by telling him my PayPal app was already open.

Hey I think we shut these losers down! Please verify!

I can confirm, as I got 2 rings to a busy line.

Damn @ScamChod and @OfclyGoodenough, these criminals do not have the fortitude that they used to have in the past.

Remember when a toll-free number would be up and running for at least a full day, even sometimes several full days?

I’m trying now for only the 2nd time to call (833) 902-0465. It rang several times and then stopped ringing from my TextMe number, yet the counter is still counting and now the counter is 1 minute/10 seconds.

I’ll let it for awhile keep ticking I guess. I guess for awhile I can let the call continue.

If a scammer has answered this call, I did not hear anything.

I’m trying from my TextNow # now. It is ringing and ringing and ringing. It is ringing still. The counter is 1 minute and 22 seconds. The call just ended or dropped I think.

you can tell these are small time operations…some loser in his hut barefoot with some chickens. Likely these poor excuses for people only buy limited toll free time and it’s clear we are exhausting the little supply they have!

I think its a 1 line bhenchode as I just got him on a call, and heard his cell phone ring when i called on another line. Then 3rd call goes to busy

Yes, it seems that at least some toll-free numbers have credits bought or something.

I am guessing a huge American legitimate company or corporation just pays a monthly bill for a toll-free number for that month’s charges.

There seems though the option with a toll-free number to pay for a certain amount of minutes or whatever and then when they run out the criminals must purchase more minutes.

Sometimes I have called a toll-free number of a scammer and there is some automated voice that says there are no more credits.

(833) 902-0465 … Just now I called and Steve from PayPal answered! I am on call now.

Get back to work…there’s a lot of numbers in the special room waiting for even more special attention

They answered my call even when i blocked my number

Cracking that whip again I see sir! Aye Aye Captain!!!
