- The scammer, “Mike,” answered as “PayPal Suppoat” and refused to provide “suppoat.” I called back, and “Mark” asked for the email associated with my nonexistent PayPal account before hanging up.
- I called back once more, and “Ruby” falsely claimed my identity was stolen to register a PayPal account in Delaware, California, Ohio and China, which has since been placed on hold, as well as make an additional $500 gift card purchase from Amazon, prompting me to go to my local CVS to purchase a “free PayPal Blocking Card.”
- I called back, and “John” falsely claimed the purchase was made from North Carolina, constantly asking for my banking information.
