HIGHLIGHTS FROM VIRTUAL MACHINE BAIT
- The scammer will claim a hacker from South Carolina hacked your PayPal account to purchase Bitcoin from CoinBase. You are asked to “open the Google Chrome” and download AweSun
- Once the scammer gains remote access to your computer, you are asked to write down their name “Kevin Parker” and the “refund amount of $699.99” on a piece of paper while he transfers you to his “senior refund manager, Peter.”
- “Peter” will then provide you a “refund form,” which you are asked to fill out before your screen will be blacked out for “security purposes.” Once you are done, you will be asked to “log into your bank account.”
- Since I don’t have an online bank account, “Peter” frequently attempted to log me into one. Thus, I played him the Bhenchod Song.
