Payday loan scam $1500, threaten legal action

Scam Number: 833-486-0392
Scammer’s Website or Email: n/a
Additional information about this scam: Payday Loan scam. He will ask the name of person you need to talk to, which they generically give out as “Karen Miller”. They then ask your phone # (one you’re calling on) and attempt to look you up in their “database”. Then claim you were negligent on repaying a Payday loan in the amount of $1500, and then threaten you with legal action.

Person on phone (man) had an excellent American accent. Or he’s actually American and funneling for crime syndicate in India.

Phone number they give you in voicemail (listed above), is not the same as the # they dial in on: 409-643-0200. Both route to same place.

Edit:
All you have to do is Google the phone number and you can see it’s been mass reported as a scam phone #.
Debt Collector” you say, whatever dude. Seriously - WHATEVER DUDE.

You know what, screw it. Hide my post, delete it w/e. I’m out… utterly pointless for me to even try arguing with supreme all powerful beings on a forum who have all knowledge on all things and are never wrong. This is a total waste of effort and breath.
100% dude 100% you are so right, it’s a totally legitimate debt collector.
YOU are amazing dude! Thank you!!! YEA!!! 10/10 #sarcasm

Both numbers belong to a debt collector

Don’t need any lawsuits

A fake debt collector is still a scammer, no?
I don’t have a payday loan, never have.
And further, I have credit monitoring so it’s not a case of legitimate fraud.

Owell, guess I’m fighting a losing battle regardless lol.

They may be after someone that lived in your home or had your phone number at some point. You can take legal action if they keep bothering you. It is also possible that a scammer spoofed a real bill collector in an effort to seem more realistic.
