On April 24, 2025, the Prince George’s County Police Department in Maryland arrested two individuals for serving as money mules for Indian scam organizations. The individuals arrested are:
1. Parmveer Parmveer
- A 25-year-old from Grove City, Ohio.
- Served Apple technical suppoat scammers who generated fake virus alerts and also posed as representatives with the United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
- The scammers falsely claimed their victims’ money needed to be “secured” in a Bitcoin ATM or in the form of gold bars, which Parmveer would pick up.
- The scammers have stolen nearly $700,000 from victims.
2. Gyoung Lee
- A 47-year-old from Flushing, New York.
- Served Microsoft tech suppoat scammers who generated fake virus popups and posed as as representatives with the US Treasury Department.
- Victims will be asked to withdraw $40,000 from their bank accounts and hand it off to a designated money mule, such as Lee.
