On August 21, 2025, police in Panchkula, Haryana, India raided three illegal call centers for facilitating a myriad of scams against American and European nationals. While one has yet to be identified, the other two were confirmed as

Across the 3 call centers, scammers fraudulently posed as representatives of banks and OTT services, falsely claiming the services were discontinued and they need to reactivate them by sending money directly to the scammers. The scammers also attempted to deceive their victims with fake offers and schemes, such as the “Obama Welfare Initiative,” which was falsely linked to India’s Below Poverty Line program.
85 individuals were arrested, with 10 being identified as primary suspects. During the raids, police seized
- 85 laptops, 62 cell phones and cash from Certys
- 62 laptops, 60 cell phones and cash from iSpace
- 18 cell phones, 21 CPUs, 1 laptop and cash from the undisclosed call center.
