On June 1, 2026, police in Panchkula, Haryana, India raided an illegal call center in Sector 2 that was used to facilitate Amazon scams against American nationals, where
- The scammers will pose as Amazon customer support representatives and persuade their victims into providing personal information and granting remote access through programs like AnyDesk.
- The victims will be mislead into purchasing gift cards.
21 bhenchods were arrested, including four named kingpins:
- Raja Siddiqui (Kolkata)
- Akshay/Tikku (Delhi)
- Navdeep/Raj Bedi (Batala, Punjab)
- Ankur Kapoor (Panchkula)
Police have also seized 19 computers, 3 laptops, 16 headsets, 2 POS machines, 3 walkie-talkie sets, 2 Wi-Fi routers, a currency counter, a crypto wallet, gold jewelry and fake and real currency.
