Level 3 via Skype, baiting with virtual machine.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM VIRTUAL MACHINE BAIT:

  • Scammers answer as “Norton Customer Suppoat” and claim your transaction was an “auto-renewal” that resulted from your credentials being compromised on Amazon.
  • In order to “cancel,” you are asked to “open the Google Chrome,” which they claim is the safest browser for their consumers, and go to rncare.live (Code: 79520, IP: 193.233.203.66 :moldova:), an iFrame of https://dita1.top/
  • The website wasn’t active, so the scammer had me install AnyDesk (ID: 1815228102) and claim the supposed “hacker” lived in Oakland, Texas.
  • Once the scammer remotely connects to your computer after having you “hold the line” for 5 minutes while they get AnyDesk set up on their device, they will have you go to rncare.live again (which actually works without the www.) and transfer your call to “Martin Brown,” who will provide you with a “cancellation form,” which claims they are “verified with the Better Business Bureau.
  • Once you have completed the “form,” you are asked to log into your bank account. I don’t have one, so I played him the bhenchod song. They then searched for “you are son of a bitch,” “ass hole” and “cock sucker.”
  • I was forced to reset my virtual machine after the scammer fully hijacked it to visit pornographic websites.
