HIGHLIGHTS FROM VIRTUAL MACHINE BAIT:

  • The scammer, “Thomas,” answered as “Suppoat for Norton, McAfee, AVG, etc.” and asked for the email registered on my nonexistent Norton account before having me to “connect to the secure server” by running UltraViewer (ID: 75701633/DESKTOP-62F20GJ).
  • Once “Thomas” remotely connected to my virtual machine, he proceeded to download AnyDesk (ID: 1734097994/DELL, Password: My AnyDesk address) and ran a “scan” with the “tree” command in the Command Prompt.
  • When the “scan” is finished, “Thomas” will falsely claim 90% of my IP address was hacked, requiring “firewall security” by revealing my IP address and transferring my call to a “level 9 IP expert.”
  • I was asked to pay $699 for “manual firewall protection,” or $799 for “automatic firewall protection” from Core Network Help, which falsely claims to operate from a mall in Springfield, Virginia. I finished him off with the Bhenchod Song and Tunak Tunak Tun
