On October 17, 2024, police in Noida conducted a raid against an illegal call center at B-87, Block H, Sector 63 for facilitating a Microsoft technical support scam operation against American residents with fake popups and the use of TeamViewer, AnyDesk or Ultraviewer.
- 19 individuals were arrested, 14 men and 5 women, under sections 319(2), 318(4), 316(2), 338, 336(3) 340(2) 61(2) and 111 of the BNS and Section 66D of the IT Act.
- Police also seized 38 laptops and chargers, 4 ethernet media converters, 4 routers, 30 headphones, 28 mice, 11 ID cards, 6 cell phones and a fake document from the “Federal Reserve System.”
Noida police also conducted a raid against an illegal call center at B-113, Sector 64 for facilitating a Social Security scam operation against American residents with fake US Marshal IDs and the email addresses [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected].
- 24 individuals aged 20-30 were arrested under Sections 318(4) and 111(2)(II) of the BNS and Section 66 of the IT Act.
- 28 laptops, seven handsets and two laptop chargers were seized during the raid.
