On April 9, 2026, police in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India raided an illegal call center that, for a reportedly long time, was used to facilitate common tech support scams against American nationals. 16 bhenchods were arrested during the operation, with police also seizing 4 laptops, 15 desktops, 15 monitors, 16 cell phones, 16 headsets, 2 routers and a moden.

Sometimes I wonder if the top bosses call these in to the Police so that they don’t have to pay their scammer employees or to eliminate a competing scam center.

yep that does happen, not just to scams but in general it does happen a lot, so safe to say it does happen with scam call centers, whoever bribes the most wins unfortunately
although smaller operations don’t even need to bribe the police, they literally don’t care about physical crimes at times let alone cybercrime
