Want to screw with scammers by letting them into your PC but don’t want to go through the trouble of creating a VM? Even if you do create a VM they can figure out you are messing with them pretty quickly. Well now there is a feature you can enable on Windows 10 Pro or better that essentially locks down your PC from any changes but appears to the user as though everything is normal. The feature can be enabled under Device Lockdown in turn Windows Features on or off in control panel. The feature is called UWF and stands for Unified Write Filter. Basically it writes all changes to your OS or files to a temporary “overlay” created in RAM. Once the PC is rebooted the changes in the overlay disappear and the PC is exactly as it was before any changes were made. I really doubt any if the scammers would even be remotely intelligent enough to even look for this let alone know how to turn it off. It can’t be disabled without a reboot either so it would be obvious if they are trying to.
