New SSA Scam

518-620-1459 – Adam Garcia spun me a new SSA scam. First, they accuse you of going to Mexico and doing something, I don’t know what. Then they say you have a Bank of America account. Then they want your permission to issue a new SSN. They want you to email them a copy of your DL to [email protected]. They are really, really rude calling you a criminal. He used the SAME Case Id as two other scammers today.

That “collector.org” comes from “mail.com”, as they have a large list to select from for the email domain name. I find your recordings very entertaining, keep up the great work!

Glad you caught this new scheme. I see the @collector.org is mainly used for 419 scams. When I google @collector.com, I see hundreds of scam complaints.

This Indian scammer is PUNJABI for sure. I can tell easily from his accent. Most likely from New Delhi/Noida/Gurgaon localities.

@drwat#75525 Thanks. I was pretty surprised at this one. There is no end to what they can think of to rob people.

@MKHNT#75524 Thank you very much for the compliment. I am sorry it took so long to reply. I just realized that it was here. ; )

@JusticeinTexas#75518 Yes it seems that they are trying to change things in their script. Yesterday I had a call with a SSA scammer and they pretended to call the New York Police department. I could hear a second scammer pretending to be the police officer. This is the first time I have ever had them do this. However, @drwat told me that they do this in the Canadian scams.

@AlanGreen2#80730 Interesting. First I have heard of this one. Thank you for sharing it so that I know how to handle it. I use a burner number on RTC and so if they want to call back they actually can. Oooh, I hope I get one of these! I will have so much fun with it!
