New Guidelines for Approving/Denying Numbers on Scammer.info

New Guidelines for Approving/Denying Numbers on Scammer.info

Core Rules

  1. All posts entering review require a minimum 2-hour wait before approval or denial. No automatic actions—manual review only.

  2. Add staff-only details to numbers via whispers or staff notes; visible exclusively to the moderation team.

  3. Only the moderation team views denial/rejection reasons—discuss in staff PMs or mod category.

  4. Moderators: Do not approve posts before the 2-hour mark!

  5. Posts can be set aside (deferred or moved to staff-hold category) until a staff member approves posting.

  6. All staff must be aware of numbers being set aside for investigation.

Follow these rules strictly for quality control.

Post Routing and Tags

  • New posts have no routing tags by default.

  • Routing tags available to all for requesting probing/documentation—increases investigative hold.

  • Higher-rank users can apply “burn” or “do not hold” tags.

  • If one or more numbers is held for investigation, post routes to investigation category.

    • If there’s an investigation, instruct user to close it or request an investigation closure.
  • If user is high rank and requests “do not investigate,” post immediately.

  • If the posting user has high rank, the post is held for two hours before being published.

  • Else if approved while held: Then published.

Investigation Archive Category

  • Archive of never-published posts for investigators.

  • Posts with common numbers get merged (e.g., as a reply).

System Aim

The system creates two main areas:

  • A holding area for light probing and documentation of scams before front-page listing.

  • A longer-term investigation area to consolidate efforts and leverage posted information.

Goal: Foster better coordination in the scambaiting community—reposition the forum from a place to destroy numbers to a hub of collaboration and productivity.

This is great. I have been trying to look into numbers only to find they have been burned and replaced with new numbers by scammers.

This feels like a well needed change. It’s important that numbers have time to be investigated before they’re burned.

This was a well needed change that needed to be made so we can investigate and gather more info on scammers.

good idea, I would add one more thing: some users complain about numbers not being approved and post them in one of the “chat” channels (mb we can block entering numbers there)

Yeah, been a long time coming I think. Hoping this can be a new chapter for the site :slightly_smiling_face:

Put me down in the sounds good but likely not such a good idea column. That’s two hours they have to scam victims. When one calls from the same common number they know that certain numbers (like my personal number) are adversarial. I get hung up on all the time after seconds when connected to a live agent (ie: scammer) . We essentially get on their list of known adversaries and I guarantee their is such a list as this would never occur otherwise. If some feel they are wasting their time before the 2 hours is up the time posted is clearly noted. They could wait til that time had passed. Thanks

This thread was for mods and admins a while ago. it is no longer in effect.
