Got 3 Robocalls this week with a spoofed CID pretending to be local on one of my #s I’ve previously used to bait our friends at the “National Student Help Center”.
When I answered the call I got a TCPA violation/prerecorded message stating 'In light of the recent government shutdown the IRS is now forgiving tax debt if less than $10k. Press 5 to speak to a representative". I obliged and was connected to the "Financial Relief Center" and then pretended to be interested long enough that the person actually provided me the website address http://frctr.com which looks like hasn't been updated in almost a decade and also got a direct line 15623860395.
Because of the similarity of how this robocall message sounds to the "National Student Help Center"'s and that I'm getting it on the same # I used previously, I can only conclude these are either the same scam call center or they sell leads and scripts to each other.
There's absolutely no changes to anyone's federal tax liability because of the government shutdown earlier this year. This is a scam.
@NeeP#92233 Indeed They’ll probably take them down quicker again because they know that we know they’re the same call center and they’re selling hot-transfer leads to probably countless more scam and/or real-but-shady companies.
Nope They’re offline again… I only called them 5 times. Asked about their FTB status, one lady said they weren’t associated with the San Jose people, “we are in IIIRRRVINEE”… I told another lady that I would be reporting them and she asked if I was going to come down and spank her. Another one said “be ready for all of the calls you’re going to get from us”…
That last one was special... I embrace the challenge
@urlaub14#93898 was it an old number? I wonder if they re-use their numbers after a while. They have so many numbers that I assume they cycle through them. We got a few threads about these “I’m just a receptionist” call centers. Do you remember where this big list of numbers was?
Maybe we should keep and update the list and then we can see maybe a pattern on how they use their numbers.
Sweet! Yeah I don’t think they actually have any association with the old FTB suspended San Jose company I posted earlier in this thread. I think they just gave me that info a few weeks ago to throw us off the trail. That was also before I knew they were just a Lead Generator and that they’re the same call center as the “National Student help center/I’m just a receptionist” people.
That’s great you got them to finally said they’re in Irvine though! That sounds believable actually. They lie all the time and don’t want anyone to know who they are. :P
