"Network at risk from inbound threats" scam

Initially I’ve received a call from this number telling me about my network’s security being needy of attention, which I knew was fine and unnecessary to inspect. As much as K tried dismissing them as scammers, they even then claimed to be legitimate. Finally, I requested to speak with his “boss” (which he was reluctant to transferring me with), and hung up on me when he knew his cover was blown. Background noise was inaudible (likely due to them being under quarantine) but had a noticable indian accent. To convince their victims that it’s legit, they offer their service free of charge, only for a direct computer access from them (information theft).

(Caller ID has them located to in Missouri, though it isn't very reliable to be considered true.)

If you could provide me more information, comment below so that I may update this thread. Adios.

@jjose#156506 Hola, Jose. Where did you get that phone number? Was it on your caller-ID? Chances are, it doesn’t belong to the scammer, but is “spoofed”. Meaning it is some random number that they hide behind.

It doesn't pick up at all. Waiting to hear from you so we can do something about it.

@jaymee#156513 Could have been spoofed in that case. Otherwise, they must be busy with others. Again, I was just given a caller ID for the incoming call with its number and location - that was it.

@jjose#156517 We’ll try to verify during the scammers’ normal hours.
