Are negative ratings enough to do harm to tech support scam companies?
I’m no expert but I have been told to report scummy grey scam type websites to the hosting company, it probably won’t get them taken down but it may hurt their reputation and alter their position in search engines.
If you are sure they run tech support scams I would say share that info anywhere you can, who knows, it may help but provided you can prove they are running scams it can’t do any harm either.
Absolutely not an expert opinion, just my opinion.
If they present themselves as a company this can help, but most of the ones I’ve seen impersonate real tech companies (Geek Squad, McAfee, Norton/Symantec etc.) Much better to report their websites to the hosting and registry providers, and leave reviews in 800notes or whatever on their callback numbers (only after you’ve verified them of course!)
