Let’s say my name was Jonathan Smithinson. I put John Smithy as my username on Talkatone, not knowing that scammers may potentially see my name. Since the nickname is different enough from the full name, will I be ok suppose they try to use my name against me? (I’m using a burner email for registering so I’m not concerned about them seeing that)
Separate question, should I use a vpn when calling? I have a free one but can’t afford a paid one at the moment.
VPNs will not work with Talkatone!
Additionally, what do you mean when you set you set a username and the number your calling can see it? There is no username to set, they will not see anything - Talkatone acts like an ordinary number…
Oh I see, thank you. Basically you know when registering you add a first and last name? I was looking online and somebody mentioned how the scammer could see their name and not only called it out, but presumably forwarded it to another scammer. I was just worried that if that were true, that they could potentially get a hold of my details if I’m not careful
mine was set to something silly ages ago lol
but I’ve never even had anyone ‘questioning’ it out of curiosity, so I don’t think they could see it at all
