On April 7, 2026, the Tangipahoa Parish Sherriff’s Office in Collin County, Texas arrested 25-year-old Nigam Bhatt, an Indian national residing in Parsippany, New Jersey on a student visa, for serving as a money mule for a Social Security scam operation where
- The scammers will call their victims under the false personation of law enforcement, falsely claiming their financial accounts or Social Security benefits were frozen.
- As they are “under investigation,” the victims will be asked to withdraw money from their bank accounts, convert them into gold bars and deposit them to avoid being “arrested.”
- The gold collected will then be transferred through laundering channels.
Bhatt was arrested after attempting to collect over $800,000 in gold from an elderly victim, and has since been charged with extortion. However, since he is an Indian national, I HOPE HE ENJOYS GAUTMO!
