My mom almost got scammed

My mom isn’t even 60 yet, and she was thinking critically, she just doesn’t have the technical know-how. She got a tech support scam popup telling her to call a number. I can’t believe how lucky I got to wake up at just the right time… she was in the middle of downloading UltraViewer (I think it’s called??), I saw the Windows Run box open and everything.

At first, I thought she was taking my lead and baiting a scammer, so I told her to “make sure to open the things they want you to download inside a virtual machine”, but I eventually realized she was falling for the whole thing.

I just took her phone and hung up the call and told her it’s a scam. I can’t believe I got so lucky to wake up before they got her to download malware.

Honestly, I can’t believe they were willing to talk straight to a honest, kind, and caring mother and try to steal everything she has.

Their phone number: +1 (808 353-0639

I’ll find the popup link later. I need to deal with something. If you call, don’t mention me, my mother, or this thread - I don’t want them to make any connections.
