My journey is over

Dear scambaiters,
My journey in the scambaiting community has reached its end. I first entered this world as an escape from a mundane and lonely existence. I won’t bore you with a whole sob story about my career in this community, but suffice it to say that I made a lot of good memories and friends along the way. This community gave me something to get out of bed for and something to fight for and for that I am forever grateful. Recently though, my situation has been changing, as has the communities I inhabited and my role in them. My life outside of scambaiting is now taking precedence and there is no void for this community to fill any longer. I don’t plan on disappearing outright, but I wanted to give those of you important to me the closure of answers and a heads up to this rather than simply fading out of your lives slowly and without a chance to say goodbye. This is a ratification of the soft retirement I have been easing into for the last few months. So to the community, goodbye. I wish you all the best and hope that you can find home and happiness here as I did. Some of you may wonder about the future of scammer.info as it relates to my stepping back. I still plan to fulfill my duties to the site and will do my best to act in the non partisan interests of the community as a whole. I do worry about the centralization of the community that has been happening over time, I am a firm believer in competition and diversity, and I urge the community to maintain the competitive spirit that keeps us on our toes and pushing forward. There will be plenty of time for each of you who are close to me to reach out, in all likelihood I will remain somewhat active for a few months, I just won’t be participating in new projects or development.
Goodbye scambaiting, you will be missed.

Best,
mo

It may have been a little less than a year since you joined us on our quest to take down scam operations across the globe, but I can honestly say you’ve made a hell of an impact once you introduced us to SpamBaitMail and the FearToxin scanners. And despite the rocky starts, your tools were incredibly effective in helping baiters like me investigate and expose all kinds of scammers and get their activities reported to their phone carriers and appropriate government agencies.

While I personally wish you all the best in the other communities, just know that if there comes a time where this void ever does return, just know that I and the rest of the community will welcome you back with open arms. But for now, I hope you take care, enjoy your holiday season and have a happy 2024.

Sincerely, Austin Goodenough.

I created this account just to say, you have done a lot for me, you know who I am and I know who you are.
You were there for me in times of need and have shaped me as a hacker and more importantly a person and friend.
I’ve always looked up to you, and i’m happy to see you move on in life, but the truth is there never will be another Mo.
Forever grateful, Jason.
