"Musk Communication" RAIDED, shut down for facilitating tech support SCAMS (21 ARRESTED!)

On November 16, 2025, the Karnataka Cyber Command Unit raided and shut down a Microsoft technical support scam operation by the name of “Musk Communication” from their office on the sixth floor of the Delta building in Sigma Soft Tech Park in Varthur, Kodi, Whitfield Main Road. How their scam worked was:

  • The scammers will create fraudulent Facebook ad campaigns targeted towards American users, with the advertisements containing malicious code designed to look like service links or routine security alerts.
  • The victims will be redirected to a fake virus popup, urging them to call a designated “helpline” number to speak with a fake tech support agent who will falsely claim that their IP address was “compromised” and their personal banking information was “at serious risk.”
  • The scammers will then pose as agents with the United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and threaten to arrest their victims for money laundering, unless they pay the scammers in the form of cryptocurrency.

21 bhenchods were arrested over the course of 21 days, with police also seizing laptops, cell phones, hard drives and other evidence for forensic analysis.
