On November 8, 2024, police in Mumbai, India conducted a series of raids against two illegal call centers in East Andheri and West Kandivali. The Andheri East call center had scammers deceive American nationals by threatening that their Google Business profiles would be shut down unless they paid for upgrades and verified checks.
The Kandivali West call center was used to deceive Indian nationals with a forex trading scam. 19 individuals, including their two owners and 5 team leaders, were arrested and 12 mobile phones, 22 hard drives, 1 monitor, 2 CPUs, 1 router, 1 laptop, 1 keyboard, 12 headphone mics and other crucial documents were seized for forensic analysis.
