Between February 24 and February 25, 2026, multiple scam call centers were raided and shut down by local authorities. The call centers shut down were:
Rudratek IT Service Centre
- Posed as software service providers to steal money from American victims through cryptocurrency channels.
- Five chods from Ulhasnagar and Ambernath were arrested: Sunil Sachwani (35/OWNER), Hitesh Santosh Punjabi (22), Tarun Haresh Kevalani (22), Yash Raju Patil (24) and Varun Vinod Mishra (21).
- Officers seized computers, cell phones and digital equipment suspected to have been used in the scam under relevant sections of the BNS and IT Act.
Unnamed Call Center in a Mahim, Palghar West Apartment
- Facilitated technical support scams under the false personation of employees with Apple and Microsoft.
- Victims were asked to pay $500-4,000 in gift cards, which were then converted into cryptocurrency and routed through hawala channels.
- Five chods were arrested: Bharat Loku Lalwani (35), Rohit Rajendra Nimbalkar (29), Rohit Millind Zonhe (23), Amardeep Angrez Gill (24) and Sagar Baldev Pathadiya (29)
- Officers seized four laptops, 12 cell phones, four headsets, a TP-Link router and an Airtel dongle.
