HIGHLIGHTS FROM VIRTUAL MACHINE BAIT:

  • The scammer, “George,” claimed an “attempt of hacking” took place within the past 48 hours, prompting you to “reactivate the security” by running UItraViewer (ID: 77845141).
  • Once “George” remotely connected to my virtual machine, he had me run the “netstat” command in the command prompt to falsely claim there was “multiple hackers” on my network. Our call was disconnected during this scan, so he closed every window and disconnected from my virtual machine.
  • I called their toll-free number back, but it was shut down for fraud.
