Additional information about this scam: Found on guru, pop-up campaign. “This is the number on a message from Microsoft saying it computer is locked and call that number… not trusting it!”
The scammer, “Michelle,” answered as the “Techical Dept. for Microsoft” and falsely claimed an “attempt of hacking” took place within the past 48 hours, prompting me to “install certain Microsoft security” by holding down the ESC key and running mrt so she can falsely claim they were unable to connect me.
I was then asked to provide my email address before my call was transferred to her “senior supervisor, Eric Walker,” who asked me to run UltraViewer (ID: 72520345) to “connect to the Microsoft secure server.” This connection only lasted a hot minute, as they swiftly disconnected and hung up on me.
