Additional information about this scam:

This is such complete bullshit. I only scambait when the rest of my family isn’t home, so they don’t ruin my facade and make the scammer hang up on me. Today, I spent literally 3 hours and 30 minutes searching for a number on here and NONE of them worked, so the past 3 minutes I opened a bunch of typo’d URLs (ggmail.com, twier.com, etc.) as a last-ditch effort. Those are usually redirects to bullshit antivirus companies and chrome extensions, aka stuff that isn’t fun and wastes YOUR time rather than the scammers’. Every once in a while, I get a lucky tech support scammer popup, and I call it before posting it here, but AS SOON AS I FOUND THIS PAGE I heard the car door shut outside  Unlike last time, though, I actually somewhat tested this number. I never spoke with any scammers, but I called the number to make sure it works, and it prompted me to hit a keypad number to speak with an “agent” (lmfao.png)

It appears they’re using 1 URL with a querystring to manipulate the phone number displayed in the scam popup, so maybe they’ll keep using this link in the future? Probably wishful thinking, but I might do some Google dorking in a week and see if there are any other exact matches for this link with different phone numbers.

Good luck! If you’re gonna reveal, tell 'em Benjamin Chode or Benjamin Kelton Odie sent ya.

Does it do any good to report this to Digital Ocean? I have never made an abuse report to them and didn’t know how they might respond. Seems like a lot of companies turn a blind eye to this stuff.

IIRC a couple threads on here reported DO responding well to those reports, but I have no clue where to submit one.

DO has an abuse reporting page at Contact DigitalOcean
I haven’t checked yet today to see if the pop up is still there but it was there when I went to bed.

Please put the phone number in the title, it makes it a lot easier for others to avoid posting duplicates

The site is still up rn, so I reported it.

well boys, we did it. scamming is no more. [skipper-salute.png]
