Additional information about this scam: I got this popup today and with little research got to know this is the place to make them pay for it.
800TollFreeNow, “David” answered as “Microsoft Security and Suppoat” and refused to “suppoat” because I never provided my cell phone number.
- I called the number back, and “Leo” “connected to the nearby Microsoft Secure Server” and falsely claimed my device and IP address were being accessed from hackers in Ohio, New York, New Jersey and California. I told him I didn’t need a lecture, and he told me to throw my computer out the window.
- I called back once more and “this side Alex” prompted me to close the popup via Task Manager and “secure my networks” by throwing my computer out the window.
