Level 3 via Skype, baiting with Virtual Machine.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM VIRTUAL MACHINE BAIT:

  • The scammer, “John William,” attempted to call me back from his TextNow line ‪(908) 676-5728, but was still unable to hear me.
  • In order to “cancel,” “John” asked me to “open the Google Chrome” and go to kt.l24.help (Code: 19909, IP 45.148.244.78 :netherlands:)
  • Once they remotely connect to your computer, you will be greeted with a fake “software is updating” screen while they load up the “refund form” via the Command Prompt, dubbed the “McAfee Secure Refund Server”
  • After you provided your name, address and email, “John” will ask if you are employed or on retirement before “verifying” the information and asking you to “log into” your bank account. As I don’t currently have one, I instead played “John” the Bhenchod Song.
