The scammers uused the (713) number to send fraudulent cold calls with the following prerecorded message, which was uploaded to Nomorobo.
“Dear customer, we have successfully auto renewed your subscription for McAfee Antivirus subscription has been successfully charged you $349.99 from your account. If you didn’t authorize this charge, you have 48 hours to cancel and get an instant refund of your annual subscription. Please press one or call our customer. Care 1-833-324-1677 thank you for your purchase. McAfee antivirus.”
- Their ConnectWise download page wasn’t working, so he asked me to download Alpemix so he could then install ConnectWise and ask me to fill out a “refund form” and log into my nonexistent bank account.
- Since I don’t do online banking, the bhenchod blanked my screen with a fake sytstem update and tried to force me to log in, so I played the Bhenchod Song.
