On May 23, 2025, the Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar Police in India raided an illegal call center operating out of a Tayra Hills apartment near the Western Hotel on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway for facilitating an Amazon refund scam, where:
- The victims would receive an email or a text message regarding “unauthorized activities” on their account.
- The scammer will coerce their victims into purchasing gift cards in order to “secure” their accounts.
Four bhenchods from Mira Road were arrested:
- Iban Meesam Sayyed (29)
- Nayab Meesam Sayyed (32)
- Mehdi Hasan Taqvi/Faizan (29)
- Michael Aral Cinder (26)
Police have also seized laptops, smartphones and internet routers during the raid.
