On October 19, 2024, police in Lucknow, India conducted a raid against an illegal call center for facilitating Microsoft technical support scams against American and Canadian residents, who were asked to pay with gift cards or Bitcoin. The call center operated out of an Everest Enclave condo at PXX6+P6W, Baraulikhalilabad, Uttar Pradesh 226301, India.
12 individuals were arrested under sections 318(4), 319(2), 316(2), 338, 336(3), 340(2), 61(2) and 111 of the BNS and the IT Act:
