Locksmith Scammer - How to Fight Back!

There is a growing trend of locksmith scammers that advertise unlocking your car for $29. That’s a great price if you have accidentally locked your keys in the car!

However, once the Locksmith Scammer arrives on location to do the work they will always say that "This car is very complex to get into and we need to charge [unrealistic excessive rate]". Since the person is generally desperate at that point they concede to the exorbitant amount.

This is an interesting news clip that explains the locksmith scam quite nicely: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGiK268jcXw

Here is the solution to this growing problem: Call them every day and sending their technicians to all kinds of random addresses. The expense of having to deal with fake addresses, and never know if the caller was legitimate or not, would destroy them. Use various apps to make the phone calls and change your voice.

If several people did several calls each day to each of these scammers then it would surely bring the locksmith scammers down to their knees!

Interesting, thanks for that. I’d advise against telling them to go to random addresses however, because we don’t want the people at these addresses being harassed by them.

Yes, good point. Sending them to a Wal-Mart parking lot (or other business that’s far from their home office) would do the trick. “I’m at the blue car, 5 cars down, on row 6” should do the trick. LOL!
