This was one of those places that picked up, I could hear the “call center” in the background, and then they hang up when I called using FireRTC. I called from a landline and they picked up no problem… strange!
@6flagsray#25483 Maybe they have some kind of detection for it now. They seem to be getting more savvy. My burner expires the 6th so I am working on a new persona/location for the month of April. They stay on longer because I can spout of details of whatever area I am from in the current month. Golly, I almost get to believe it myself! My husband tells me that I sound like I have a Virginian accent I use it so much! I just soften my Texas twang!
@JusticeinTexas#25487 I like the fact you come up with a new persona each month. That’s great! I don’t get to talk to the scammers much, but when I do I make sure I have all my info straight as one time I called, I didn’t know what name to use, so I said “Susan Jones”. The scammer said “Your name is Susan Jones?” I replied “Yes. Is there a problem with that?” And he hung up. ![]()
@6flagsray#25488 HAHA! Probably because THEY use that name all the time! I use the fake name generator and use Scottish, Australian and I have even used Hobbit names! I research everything about the area, including where the nearest “Valgreens” is. I have 3 birthdates depending if I am in college, working or a stay at home mom. If I am a teacher I have the school because I have been asked that. If I am a working student, I have the restaurant. If I am a nurse, I have the hospital. If I am a military widow, I have the nearest Army Base. I even have my high school graduation date and kids names and birthdays. I never know what they are going to ask. I cannot stumble or they are right on it and I cannot give a different answer. That is how I keep them on the phone for sometimes an hour.
So I tried to call the number twice. First time all I heard was the call center in the background the person who was on the call with me was silent. I hung up after a moment. I tried to call again and they hung up on me. I do wonder. Would the same call center run several different scams with different numbers for different sections? that could possibly explain them hanging up or blocking numbers.
@CelticBlood333#25497 That is what I think happens. Once your number is blocked or rejected if you call again on a different number to the same call center, they have you. I sometimes have to make 15 calls to get one live scammer who talks to me.
