Received a call from someone spoofing a Colombian number +57 (2) 444-4758 for some reason. He said he was from American Amicable and was calling about updates to my policy. The information he read back to me about it was VERY OLD; fake name, address, social, checking account number, and beneficiary’s name that I haven’t used in well over a year. He then asked some medical questions, and we just sat there for 10 minutes waiting to connect to someone from the insurance company. He then said there was a problem with my checking account number and wanted to have a three-way call with Chase so I can confirm the details. I gave him the number to a phone sex line, which he called and then got very upset and hung up.
This is a scam that I’ve encountered numerous time since I get so many final expense calls. When you sign up for an insurance policy through these clowns they sell your lead. A scammer calls you and pretends to be with your insurance provider or at least to be calling you about your policy. They then confirm all your details (since they bought them) and proceed to try to sign you up for another insurance policy, even though you surely already have one because you went through this process before.
I was also given a callback number of +1 (888) 805-2480. When I call this one it’s just the chipmunk voice saying that my call is important, but there’s no music and it doesn’t connect me to anyone. But I don’t doubt it’s one of their numbers, too, given how close it is to the primary number.
