Many scammers choose a scamming career because either there aren’t many good tech jobs over there, the government there is trash, or both. I was thinking, what if we helped some of those people find a legitimate job that doesn’t involve scamming people?
While it may not work on the greedy scammer bosses making 100k a month, it’s worth a shot. What are your thoughts?
I know that one of these Reply All episodes was about a scammer that was tricked into scamming more or less, and the managers were physically violent. But some of the scammers were just assholes.
Luck of the draw with scammers. You can find a good person and you can find a horrible person.
Okay, I also had this same idea as well so thankfully I am not the only one to say that “Let’s put ourselves in the Indian scammer’s shoes” I was talking to a male refund scammer and he had that voice of like he didn’t want to work there anymore and I tried to talk to him but he was refusing himself to talk to me any longer and from his voice he was sad and he did at one point was talking to me about Kitboga, Neep, Jim Browning, and Scammer Payback to me and how it will be an honor to meet with them he said and the last thing he did was hang up.
Another one was when I was talking to a female firetv scammer I had told her who her company and her carrier name she hung up and she just started to text me and she was completely hostile and I calmed her down and she opened up a bit and I told her that I can find some help if she were to leave her scamming job but then she immediately wanted to block my number which she did.
Quite recently I was talking to a male PayPal scammer I gave him remote access to the VM and while he did that I also got access to his computer he figure out what was happening so he hang up and he started to chat through me on the anydesk chat he was being racist I told him to stop that and let’s talk it took me a while to calm him down because he had completely lost it and he opens up a lot to me and was explaining why he doing this job and immediately he just closed anydesk.
Overall I really do want to help them find a better job so that they won’t live like this because they’re human to it just that they’re heading to a dark path and I feel that we can help them change their lives around.
People either say that scammers are all evil or just sad poor people, and it always depends on what person is saying it, but I feel that nobody thinks about the in-between.
A scammer won’t really have anyone to turn to if they want to leave. Other scammers could try to kill them pretty much if they left or snitched about the scammers. There aren’t good jobs in India a lot of the time - the median wage in India is well below the living wage.
If they moved to the US to get a job they won’t have anyone to confess to, they’ll have no family or friends nearby…
They couldn’t go to the police, even if the scammers back there harmed them. Police might arrest them for admitting to scamming.
There would also be the issue of moving bank accounts etc. for them. What if they used a bank that’s only available in India?
And, also, they’ll have no address to live at, and their identity documents wouldn’t be great for a US job. It would be difficult to get employed.
And prison is a horrible place to be. They could get thrown together with gangsters. And the different prison security levels don’t matter - there will be fraudsters that everyone knows also committed a murder, but got away with it because it’s part of their religion or the cops trespassed on their personal bubble or whatever.
