I have a question for the more savvy folks here, my friend needed help getting back into her AT&T account and looked up a number off the internet 1-888-828-5947 for support. They way she described it, they wanted to charge her 300 dollars to get back into her account and they said someone in Germany hacked her account. They also gave her a different number to call back (1-866-978-5701, Mark Wilson), when she found the information they were requesting from her (answers to secret questions, etc). I researched the number and it was tracked to several different ‘support services’. Can anyone give me some insight or opinions into this? Are there any red flags that I should look for to determine if it’s legit or not?
The request for 300 dollars is a pretty big red flag. AT&T would never charge someone for something like this. I just tried calling both numbers, but cannot get through. I am pretty sure this is a scam.
@JoeHimself5#76757 it’s 100% a scam. Indian voice, fake English name, many fake results on Google which advertise their number on different websites.
Also AT&T wouldn’t charge for unlocking your account and not that much if at all. So I can say with all certainty that they are scammers. ![]()
@NeeP#76764 ok thanks. I had a hunch as well.
@TeddyWolfes#76762 Thanks, I kinda figured. Thanks for replying.

@JoeHimself5#76783 can you tell me. What AT&T service is it for? If it’s for the landline I can help you out. I have the phone number for the president office for AT&T. I won’t post it because AT&T some times does requires an access code and I don’t want them to do it with this number.
@Nocola#76860 My friend resolved the matter. thanks, tho.
Cool. Glad that he was able to do it.
