On September 20, 2025, police in Kurukshetra, Haryana, India raided an illegal call center in Ladwa for stealing money from American nationals through a Social Security scam, where:
- The scammers would contact their victims under the guise of federal narcotics officers and threaten to arrest their victims on the grounds that their bank account was used to traffick drugs through the US-Mexico border.
- The victims will be asked to pay $1,000, which would be handed off to the scammers in the form of cryptocurrency.
11 individuals were arrested during the raid, including:
- Mohit Setia from Karnal
- Vinod Kumar from Karnal
- Paramjit Singh from Delhi
- Vijay Chhatri from Delhi
- Rohit Malhotra from Delhi
- Nitin Rana from Yamunanagar
- Akash from Yamunanagar
- Amit Pol from Manipur
- Jitendra Kumar from Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh
- Noor Hussain from Assam
- Askash from Kerala
Police have also seized 47 monitors, 45 computers, 42 keyboards and 18 headsets during the raid.
