On November 7, 2024, police in Kolkata, West Bengal, India raided an illegal call center in Behala for facilitating a Microsoft technical support scam operation against British and Australian nationals, who were asked to provide their banking and credit card details so the scammers can forge documents and eletronic records to transfer money to other accounts. Nine bhenchods were arrested on charges of cheating, fraud and conspiracy and several computers and phones were seized for forensic evidence.
