“World E Solution” is a printer scam operation located in Chandigarh, India, though their employees will falsely claim to operate from Seattle, Washington. Anyone who tries to download drivers on their website will receive an error, prompting them to have an agent call through X-Lite and remotely connect to their computers through support.me.
Once connected, the scammer will falsely claim the issue has to do with their victims’ security updates expiring and their computer being out of warranty. They will try to resolve it by signing them up for a “Windows Kernet Security License” through wire transfers, direct debit or $1,000 in Walmart gift cards.
When NanoBaiter reversed the connections to their computers, he found that the 20 individuals responsible for the scam operation were employees of KInfo IT Solutions, a fraudulent software company operating at the IT Tower at E261, Industrial Area, Sector 74, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, Punjab 160055, India.
The scammers also operate under the American front of Basic Software Solutions, LLC in order to receive direct debit payments from their victims. User complaints on their Facebook page and Google and BBB listings indicate additional patterns of fraudulent activity, such as:
- Charging to install printer drivers that were already on their victims’ computers.
- Selling a “firewall” to prevent their victims’ printer from “malfunctioning”
- Refusing to offer refunds.
- Having elderly victims purchase thousands of dollars in gift cards from multiple pharmacies.
- Fraudulently posing as employees for Avast, Avira or McAfee to falsely claim viruses were found on their victims’ computers.
The scammers have also been reported to scammer.info back in 2019
