Ketan H. Patel ARRESTED for facilitating government impersonation scam

On April 1, 2025, the Rome Police Department in New Jersey arrested 51-year-old Edison resident Ketan H. Patel for his participation in an online/telephonic scam where multiple people impersonated government officials to steal large amounts of money from their victims. Patel was arraigned in Rome City Court and charged with 3rd-degree grand larceny, a class D felony punishable by 3-5 years in prison and a fine of $15,000.

It should be 10 years or more and a charge of domestic terrorism.

Add fraud, tax evasion, criminal impersonation, theft/larceny and if you obtain personal information from the victim under false pretenses, you could face identity theft charges.
It’s interesting because after a little searching, it seems that the Patel family owns a florist shop, two convenience stores and a BIG grocery store/bakery in Edison, NJ too.
