I’ve been fighting with illegal telemarketers for years. I’ve even testified against them. Now it seems they are fighting back.
I exposed the wireless alarm telemarketer scam, commonly known as Smart Home Security aka Core Home Security. After filing complaints with the FTC and Florida AG (useless black hole) I became a target of a massive telemarketer attack. As of today I have received 522 calls since my formal complaint was filed and I received a cheap threat from their attorney a I recorded the call where the owner tried to bribe me to release him of any blame for all the calls. After I filed the complaints in Florida all hell broke loose here with up to 15 calls a day pouring in. Most were live telemarketers from India and the Philippines.
All times here reference east coast time. I have detailed logs going all the way back to 2016 and other notes going as far back as the early 2000s. The IVR reference means they are interactive voice response recordings.
This list just the highlight of the calls. My full log has more details that were reported to donotcall.gov and also includes what happened when I called the number back. I would try block each one as soon as they call so they would not call back, but a few slipped through before I could block them.
These are the calls only since March 1, 2023. Things started getting out of control on August 11, 2023 as that was when the overseas live calls started. Nearly all of the calls from 08/11/23 to present are live telemarketers with heavy accents. Most seemed India but some of the later ones appeared to be Filipino.
The ones marked “US Healthcare aka Medicare Specialists/Benefits, US Healthcare, US Diabetic” is because this call group often uses several company names during the same call.
When you see note that say # also used for (different sales pitch) call, it means I found complaints online that showed other people reporting the number for a different telemarketing call than what I received.
I try to physically record as many of these calls as possible. I also record each call back to show what happens.
Since they refuse to stop calling, I now try to feed them fake info so they connect me to the US firm associated with these calls. The big change was on 08/11/23 as that was when the foreign call center kicked in.
