I've been a fan of Hoax for awhile now and wanted to get into the game. In fact, I've gotten down my Hindi swear words to the T and can't wait to use them on these scumbags.
Since FireRTC is down, I downloaded TextNow. I understand you can't change numbers as frequently as FRTC, but my only concern is safety/being anonymous. I have tried it a few times (no swearing) on my cell, but I'd like to use it on my laptop and record the calls. Is it better to make the calls through TunnelBear (heard good things about this VPN), just for safety? I am using the number(s) generated from TextNow, so they aren't from actual people. What would be the best way to record the calls, on computer and/or iPhone? I am using normal Apple headphones to listen and talk. Also, is there a certain safety feature for making calls from the cell using TextNow?

On computer, it’s really easy to set up OBS. Free and open source. I doubt you need to worry about anything on textnow being traced if you’re routing it through internet. As for recording on iphone, idk but I don’t think apple likes you doing that so maybe jailbreak first.

@bhenkelodhe#85316 As long as you’re using a VoIP service (which you already are, you haven’t chosen/been assign a phone number for such service which the same area code your phone (or anywhere remotely close to where you live) and you aren’t letting them connect remotely to your computer (only applies to technical support scammers) then a VPN isn’t necessary. They would have to go through multiple people/companies to obtain any worthwhile information about you, and that’s even if said companies decided to cooperate. As for call recording, I’m afraid I can’t help you on the mobile side of things, but when you’re on a PC you can use programs such as OBS or Voicemeeter (stereo mix also works if your computer/sound card offers the ability) paired with Audacity to record all audio which is played back on your computer.
I use my own phone. Eventually I get blocked but I can usually make 20-30 calls before I do get blocked. I’ve only received a few call backs over the years. I blast them even harder then.

I also use my phone, its fun for me (also google hangouts) phone is a burner, ill get a new number if it comes to it, no weks
