This company installed malware on my VM, it has only a 1/whatever detection on virustotal, but it is a fake, to my knowledge. They are from Jamaica, and Mexico. Their number is +1-888-996-2328.
If someone can verify that they are not a scam, please reply immediately.
They are mixed, so sometimes I got a fake AV and also a stopped services scam.
IOBIT is genuine company, they have many genuine softwares, but i would suggest you to use grindinsoft anti-virus its better than iobit malware-fighter,however its my personal opinion.
@maniksateshi#27559 we are not on about their software. I’m talking about that live support. It’s a scam. Their software may work. But their live support did the stopped services. Installed a fake AV on my VM and more
@1888TechLine#27532 - Hi, Iobit is a genuine software company who has been in business for 10+yrs. Could you please share the exact experince you had with these said ‘scammers’ including some visual proof? Most tech companies these days offer free 1st line software and billing support with an option to take out support service whcih is not free (understandably) for any additional problems that are found.
@drwat#27547 - Hi Dwart, I see you post regularily on this forum. Thank you for taking the time to warn the users out there of any potential threats. However, care needs to be taken when posting on these types of forums without sufficient proof as this can negatively impact genuine businesses. Can you please share what evidence you personally have collected that you label here as scam? A scam in this context is typlically a scenario when a caller is given fake service for a fake problem. Usually the scammer disappears with the money. There is no actual support. Is this the type of experience you personally had?
As far as I know, Iobit is a genuine company and I have been using their products for over 5 years without any problems and have always received good support from them.
@kat#27916 right. Hello. So. There is no visual proof as I did not record it. But. I called several times getting them install a fake scanner. (Not their product) on my VM which triggered virustotal. Also. I had a nanocore rat running on the VM and it did not detect it when they say it is industry standard. They also showed me stopped services and task manager things which is the normal. They also opened device configurations. They also lied about their location as I had them open an IP logger and they were in Mexico. They said they were in Canada which I know they are not.
I am not saying their software is a scam. I am saying the live support phone service is.
Also. There was nothing wrong with my VM and they said I had multiple malware. When there is only one which that fake scanner didn't find.
@kat#27919 Evidence. See real several youtube videos. I know at least five of those videos. You can search those youtube videos or I can provide the links. Also I have called them several months ago a few times. Many were clearly Indians but all had western names and I heard them talking in Hindi in the background.
From youtube videos you can observe the same, many times Indians respond but always use western name.
I am referring to the support is scam and no knowledge of any software you provide.
@drwat#27936 - thanks, do you have a specific video for their call center? There are tons of tech scam videos on youtube and I don’t disagree with you that India has a bad rep for call centers and tech scams alike. The two are not necessarily related though! Many legitemate business have outsourced their centers there. All I’m saying it’s important to be very specific and if you have personally had a bad experience you should let the company know if you are their customer! I’m sure they would take steps to inform their teams and partners to make sure their customers don’t get scammed! It’s their reputation on the line after all. Thanks Dwart.
@1888TechLine#27922 - thanks for your reply. There are certainly different types of security scans out there, some scan for malware only, some scan for performance issues, some scan for viruses and trojans. If they perfromed a diagnostic, they would have checked services , device config etc.
Maybe their scan was not designed for virus/trojan detection.
What concerns me is why someone like you who clearly spends a lot of time on this forum has a hacker tool installed on their virtual machine?
NanoCore has been linked to intrusions in at least 10 countries, including an attack on Middle Eastern energy firms in 2015, and a massive phishing campaign August 2016 in which the perpetrators posed as major oil and gas company. In march 2017 FBI arrested the guy who built this tool.
@kat#28097 they are not in India though. They are in Mexico And Jamaica, from my observations anyway. If anyone can provide me with an Indian IP for them, or address. Please reply with it.
