I’m currently scrambling to maintain internet. Yesterday after watching several hours of scambait and such, my internet quit. (I used up all my 100mb with five days left)
I’m rural so my options are limited for internet access. For a year I was using Clyirtel (Texas) which worked great until December. Their device and sim card quit working.
(Clyirtel uses a modem which captures the cell tower signal similar to cell phone with a sim card)
At the first of January, I spent too much money trying to duplicate that type of service until I found Cricket sim card with 100mb per month and put it in my old cell phone. It worked great until yesterday.
Now I know this is not an India call center type of scam, but because of the Covid situation, I can see this as the beginning of a major scam as people are trying to find ways to work at home.
Nomad may have been a good service at one time, but now, by manipulating reviews, they are duping customers into the service and they get stuck with the one time fee.
I discovered the review manipulation by going to BBB and reading reviews there.
All of the Facebook and Google reviews are good with only a few bad.
I almost bought the service until I went to BBB.
Only 100mb?? How do you survive? Honestly, if it’s in your area, go for a higher plan, or go “elon’s way” with his starlink or whatever which’ll help you a bit. I honestly barely squeak by my 1 TB cap (thanks sir gracious xfinity for adding it to our plan) ! I have no clue how I’d survive on 100 mb
Have you looked into Google Fi?
Comrades! NOMAD Internet is a TOTAL SCAM. They buy used equipment and re-sell it to US Customers. They are without honor! As you say - Fuck 'em!
Thanks Dill, however I’m rural. No cable, No fiber, no carrier pigeons.
Satellite is bad.
The only other option I have is Cell Tower signal.
I’m currently using Cricket sim card with an previous Galaxy phone hotspot. Works fine as long as I don’t use too much.
Agreed Garris, Nomad is a scam, confirmed by BBB
@anothen#177041 ah, i’m sorry. once Starlink comes out of beta or whatever, you should give it a try.
