I just spent a little over three and a half HOURS on the phone with two people from the tech support “company” Tech Zone Center USA. I made it all the way through the usual spiel (eventvwr, msconfig, etc.) on my virtual machine, then gave them a fake routing number and account number, which they actually took. They then spent the next hour “fixing” my computer by running CCleaner and Webroot Secure Anywhere. Anyway, I was able to collect a bunch of information on their operation, but I’m too lazy to do any in-depth digging. Here’s what I found, in case anybody has a little more time than I do and would like to investigate further:
Websites: www.techzonecenter.com and techaxis.net
Phone numbers: (866) 4911-755 (the number I originally called), (855) 979-6540 (given to me as a 24/7 tech support hotline, to call after I payed.)
This company also goes under the alias of "Solcare Labs." After "paying" $459.99, they gave me the customer ID of "GETS-7116" to give to them when I called their 24/7 support hotline.
I run a keylogger, and unfortunately, there were no passwords to steal or anything like that, but I haven't restored the VM to its snapshot yet, so if there's any information you feel is missing, I can still try to find it in the VM that they connected to.
Have fun! Let me know if you need any other information (if I can provide it).
