@KaiRan#151994 Typical SSA scam, not IRS/CRA like originally tagged. And I didn’t get a femscammer, but got Mr. Kevin Murphy… usual script except for me throwing him a bit when he found out I live in Rowlett Texas. Went through a minimal asset verification thing… plenty of stuff left out, but finally got transferred to the senior DEA dude.
Senior guy was Alex David, no badge number but his 'extension' was 111... he started in with the procedure and I pushed a few buttons, but I was really just trying to waste time at that point. We went round and round about the cash I had with me, as he claimed that the FBI would find it and arrest me if I had more than $50 on me. Of course, I let him know that they would have to find it first, which I was quite certain would not happen - so it was perfectly safe and I just needed to do something with the $312 I had in my checking account.
Well, fortunately, there is a government certified Target store not more than 10 minutes from my house, where I could go buy $300 worth of E-Bay gift cards. At that point, I went into a more or less uncontrollable laugh, saying that was a good joke, who put him up to it, etc... He kept trying to say stuff, but I was laughing so hard and carrying on that he couldn't get a word in. Finally, I calmed down a bit and let him sort of talk... I asked him who had put him up to this prank, asked if it was "Manny" from work, and told him that he was always pranking me but this was one of his better ones.
Alex said "Mr. Jose, this is serious, if you do not believe that, or that this is pretend, then you can just hang up the phone and the police will be at your door in the next half hour to arrest you".
So I said "Yeah, ok man... tell Manny I'm gonna get him back for this!!!" and hung up 😄
@Otis#152006 Thanks, I changed the tag. I live north of Rowlett and it is SUCH a hotbed of drugs and infamous for money laundering. I do not know how they picked that particular town. Dallas would have been better.
